Lucia Mar Unified School District
In August 2013, Lucia Mar Unified School District celebrated the installation of a six-piece Energy Conversion Station at Arroyo Grande High School (AGHS). This milestone marked a major step forward in AGHS’s implementation of its new Energy Technology and Environmental Engineering Program, which is part of the school’s broader career and technical education (CTE) pathways initiative.
The Energy Conversion Station is designed to give students real-world, hands-on experience with renewable energy technologies. Aligned with modern energy standards and sustainability goals, the station helps students understand how different forms of energy—such as solar, wind, thermal, and mechanical—are generated, stored, and converted.
Key learning areas include:
-
Solar and photovoltaic energy generation
-
Wind turbine technology and power output measurement
-
Energy transfer and conversion efficiency
-
Environmental impact and sustainability practices
-
Integration with green building and smart grid systems
This equipment is instrumental in helping students develop practical skills in clean energy systems, preparing them for future careers in environmental science, sustainable design, and energy technology.
